Admissions, Tuition & Career Pathways

Starting a healthcare career in Hawaiʻi should feel clear, not confusing. This page explains how admissions work at MECHA Train, what you need to begin, how tuition and payment options work, and what opportunities may follow after training.
How the admissions process works
At MECHA Train, the process begins when a student submits an interest form. After that, a team member follows up by email to ask which cohort the student wants to join, answer questions, and help guide the next step.
Review, acceptance, and next steps
After the inquiry is reviewed, the team decides whether the student is accepted or denied. If accepted, the student receives an acceptance email, their background check is scheduled, and once they are cleared, they can begin class; if denied, they receive a denial email.
Admissions contact information
Students can contact the team with questions about admissions, cohort timing, and requirements.
What you need before class starts
Current prerequisites include a valid ID, a high school diploma or GED, a TB test, a history and physical, and a background check. Students should also have access to an electronic device such as a phone, laptop, or iPad, and they may want a notebook, while scrubs and appropriate shoes are needed for in-person training.
What training looks like right now
MECHA Train currently offers CNA classes in Hilo. The course is 104 hours total and is typically completed over 13 days at 8 hours per day; the first 4 days may be completed online, the remainder is in person, and the final 3 days are clinicals.
How tuition and payments work
Students may be able to pay directly, use employer support, or explore workforce-related funding options depending on their situation. The school currently accepts payment by cash, card, check, Venmo, and PayPal.
Funding options to explore
MECHA Train discusses three practical funding paths: direct pay, employer sponsorship, and workforce support programs. The site has also described CNA tuition as running about $1,500 with flexible payment plans, so that amount should be kept only if you want to continue presenting it as an estimate until final pricing is confirmed.
What this training can lead to
Because MECHA Train is still new, the school is not yet publishing extensive placement data. However, many graduates pursue substitute caregiving work in care homes and foster homes, while some students are interested in opening their own care or foster homes in the future.
If you are ready to explore an upcoming cohort, the best next step is to submit the interest form or contact the admissions team directly to ask about requirements, schedules, and payment options.
